Southeast Impoundment Layers (2018)
A comprehensive GIS map layer of impoundments (an area within which water levels are actively managed to benefit wetland-dependent wildlife) within the Southern Atlantic Coastal Plain (NC, SC, GA, FL) on National Wildlife Refuges and state-managed lands.
Layers describe six vegetation cover types and three bordering cover types found within coastal marsh areas from Back Bay of Virginia to Sapelo Island, GA. This effort is the first of its kind to map tidal marsh vegetation communities in this region. The layers distinguish high and low marsh as well as ricefields and impoundments, and other salt marsh habitat types.
