General: Tidal Marsh Vegetation Classification

The Saltmarsh Sparrow Habitat Patch prioritization tool compares 8,680 salt marsh habitat patches in the Saltmarsh Sparrow breeding range, ranked by their potential to support the species in the near and long term.

Habitat Prioritization Tool

Online decision support for local Saltmarsh Sparrow management

This tool helps managers identify the areas of highest overlap between suitability for management and saltmarsh sparrow populations. The interactive plot and map synthesize several datasets related to management (extent of tidal restriction, extent of recent forest loss from sea-level rise, and regional rates of sea-level rise) along with the current distribution of saltmarsh sparrow populations. Results help evaluate opportunities for three different management strategies: 1) Thin Layer Deposition; 2) Forest management to facilitate marsh migration; and 3) Tide gate manipulation.
