A three-for-one webinar! Join for an overview of three new products developed to support saltmarsh sparrow conservation.
-
The Service’s Saltmarsh Sparrow Current Conditions Report, which comprehensively evaluates the current condition of the species and their habitat and describes the factors impacting them
-
The Atlantic Coast Joint Venture’s Saltmarsh Sparrow Conservation Plan, which outlines specific actions that land managers can take to mitigate the effects of sea level rise on breeding success, as well as other threats such as historical and current degradation
-
A new model that will inform strategic conservation action on behalf of this species. This tool helps managers identify the areas of highest overlap between potential for management and saltmarsh sparrow populations. The interactive plot and map synthesize several datasets related to management (extent of tidal restriction, extent of recent forest loss from sea-level rise, and regional rates of sea-level rise) along with the current distribution of saltmarsh sparrow populations. Results help evaluate opportunities for three different management strategies: 1) Thin Layer Deposition; 2) Forest management to facilitate marsh migration; and 3) Tide gate manipulation.
Anyone whose work relates to the conservation of salt marsh habitat or marsh-nesting birds, like the saltmarsh sparrow. This webinar is open to USFWS and partners.
